Shadow Side Art Show

As we move through life we eventually realize that we have certain reoccurring themes. I hate to call them negative, because they are great leaning moments, even though they can be very challenging. Many of these themes are personal, and we can ascribe reasons for them through events that happen. But are the events the reasons that we have trauma? Or does the trauma fuel the events that help us to recognize our true nature?

As a recovering people-pleaser myself, looking into the depths of my own shadow nature has helped me to find my authentic bitch-ass self. It’s scary at first, but it’s so much better on the other side. (The in-side, if you will)

This art project, for me, is a sifting through of those traumatic events through art. They are some of the many ‘shadows’ that I have encountered, and some of the themes that I have worked (or are working) through. Something that has really helped me, besides art, is ritual and affirmations. I have combined these two things in this art show to share, with the intention that you will recognize these themes and maybe feel community or recognition, or maybe use the affirmations to work through similar themes that have happened in your life. Or maybe…it’s just something fun to look at. Whatever it is, thanks for being here.
